Task guides
Open the BWA and the trial balance
Step-by-step task guide: Bookings and reports.
- The BWA (Betriebswirtschaftliche Auswertung) is a short overview of your income and costs. The trial balance (Summen- und Saldenliste, SuSa) lists every account with its debit, credit and balance.
- Open Bookings and choose Reports. Switch between Trial balance, BWA and P&L (GuV) at the top.
- P&L (GuV) exists only for clients that keep a balance sheet. A client that determines profit by cash-basis surplus statement (EÜR) gets a notice instead, and the BWA stays available. If the profit determination is not set yet, the notice sends you to the profile (Open profile).
- View switches between Period and cumulative, Annual overview (12 months), Prior-year comparison and Rolling 12 months. PDF downloads the report as a document.
- Set the period with Month, Quarter or Year, or enter your own dates in From and To.
- Tick or untick Verified entries only to decide whether bookings that are not yet reviewed count. In the trial balance, Personal accounts only (debtors and creditors) narrows it to customer and supplier accounts.
- In the trial balance, click an account to see the bookings behind it, and click a booking to open it.
- Check the notice Left out or booked on an assumption, if shown, and ask your tax advisor to confirm the account mapping. Download the figures with CSV.
- On the P&L (GuV), the notice GuV mapping not confirmed lists the lines your tax advisor has not signed off yet, and Accounts without a GuV position lists income or expense accounts that fall in no line. The PDF carries the mark Draft until every line is confirmed.
- A client on the SKR04 chart has no BWA yet: a notice says the mapping is missing instead of showing figures. The P&L (GuV), the trial balance and the DATEV export are available.
- The Balance sheet tab (clients that keep a balance sheet only) shows a draft Bilanz at the date in Balance sheet date: assets on the left, equity and liabilities on the right, each with its total. Your tax advisor prepares the real balance sheet in DATEV. The notice Balance sheet mapping not confirmed lists the lines not yet signed off, Accounts without a balance sheet line lists accounts with a balance that fall in no line, and a red notice appears if the two sides differ. The PDF always carries the mark Draft.
