Copy an invoice into a new draft

Step-by-step task guide: Invoicing and dunning.

  • Owner, admin, accountant and bookkeeper can copy an invoice. No switch is needed. Only a document of the type Invoice can be copied: not a quotation, order confirmation, delivery note, cancellation invoice, corrective invoice, or a down payment, partial or closing invoice.
  • Open Invoices, open the finalized invoice and choose Copy in the Invoice history section. It also works on a voided or cancelled invoice, which is how you issue it again correctly.
  • The new draft opens at once. It takes over the customer and address, Payment terms, price entry, tax treatment, currency, overall discount, title, introduction, closing text, the languages, the reference and every line. The invoice date is today.
  • It does not take over the number, the service date or period, payments, dunning, the sent state or the invoice files. Check Invoice date, Service from and Due on before you finalize. A customer, payment terms or article that was deleted since is left out; the typed address and line texts stay.
  • The copy is an ordinary draft: change it, remove it with Delete draft, or finalize it. It gets its own number only at finalize. The original stays unchanged, and Invoice history shows "Copy of ..." on the new one and "Copy ..." on the original.
  • Next to Copy is Make recurring, which starts a recurring invoice from this one (own page).
  • If Copy is missing, the document is not an invoice or still a draft, or your role may only read (tax advisor, viewers).
