Close the payroll month in time for the contribution statement

Step-by-step task guide: Payroll.

  • Each month the health funds expect a contribution statement (Beitragsnachweis). It has to reach them two banking days before the contributions are due, and the contributions are due on the third last banking day of the month. To have the numbers ready, close the payroll month one banking day before the statement is due.
  • In the sidebar open Payroll, tab Payroll run, and choose the Payroll month. For a month that is still open, the line "Close this month by" names the latest day to close it and the day the contribution statement is due.
  • Banking days are Monday to Friday without public holidays of the state set in the payroll settings, and without 24 and 31 December. The legal state is the one of the health fund's collection office; the state in the payroll settings is only an approximation. Without a state, only nationwide holidays count.
  • On the dashboard, the card Tasks shows the row "Close the payroll of" a month "by" a date for the oldest open payroll month that is close to its date or already past it. Choose it to open the payroll run.
  • The month-end check also warns when an open payroll month is close to its latest close date or past it.
  • The dates are a rule to confirm with your tax advisor. Where the rule was open, the app takes the earlier date.
