Find changes after a filed VAT return

Step-by-step task guide: VAT and DATEV.

  • A VAT return counts as filed when every month of its period is locked. Shortly after that, the app seals the UStVA working paper of the period: it keeps the figures exactly as they were at filing. A booking that is created or changed afterwards may mean the filed return no longer matches the books.
  • On the Overview, the card Tasks shows the line "n bookings changed after a VAT return was filed" in the group Tax, with the affected periods and a count for each. Choose it to open Bookings for those dates. The same client appears on the page Open work across entities under Open work, in the filter "VAT return changed after filing"; Open leads to the page Tax. Only roles that may read bookings see the line.
  • The line is a signal, not a figure. It counts reviewed or posted bookings dated in a filed period that were created or changed after the paper was sealed. The first DATEV export of a booking is not counted as a change. For a client on the cash basis, a payment recorded after the seal counts as well. A change that does not touch the VAT return is counted too.
  • To see what changed in the figures, open Tax. The card Check against the filed return lists the locked periods of the year (shown only while the computed VAT return is switched on). Choose Check against the filed return next to a period.
  • The result shows only the return boxes (Kz) whose figure differs, with Filed (from the sealed paper), Today (from the current books) and Difference (today minus filed), in euros. A base is compared in whole euros, as it is filed; a tax amount to the cent. If nothing differs, the page says the books still match the filed return.
  • If the page says that no sealed working paper exists yet, wait a short while after locking the period and check again.
  • The check is read only and sends nothing to the tax office. If the figures differ, a person decides about a corrected return and files it. The app does not record that a corrected return was filed, so the line stays as long as the later bookings exist.
  • See Look up your VAT return (UStVA) for reading the figures.
