Set up the dunning rules for overdue invoices
Step-by-step task guide: Invoicing and dunning.
- Open Settings, then Dunning. Dunning means reminding customers of overdue invoices; these rules apply to this client only, and a letter is always sent by hand.
- Under Start of default choose from when an invoice counts as overdue: from the due date (or 30 days after receipt) or only with the first reminder.
- Tick Charge default interest if late payers should be charged interest, and fill B2B margin (points above the base rate) and B2C margin (points above the base rate). B2B means a business customer, B2C a private person.
- Tick Charge the B2B flat fee (§ 288(5) BGB) if you want the legal flat fee for business customers, and fill Flat fee (EUR).
- Set Payment term of the reminder (days), the time a customer gets to pay after a reminder.
- For each level (Payment reminder, First reminder, Second reminder, Final reminder) fill Days after due date and Reminder fee (EUR).
- If you want the app to prepare drafts every day, tick Propose reminder drafts daily; it only creates drafts, nothing is sent automatically. Then choose Save.
